The Curmudgeon
By: Jimmy C.

The woods behind the school aren't just a back drop for Jurassic Park. Actually, Sanborn harbors wetlands.

Supposedly, there used to be water out back that was home to little creatures. Where are they now, you might ask?

I have no idea. Maybe they packed up their belongings and moved to a zoo. At least there they can get a good meal and a decent place to live. You probably get the picture... I look at the Sanborn wetland and don't see anything exciting or beautiful.

What am I doing in Project world then? Resident nature lover Jason L. joined me on a nature walk through the Sanborn wetlands. He is part of an effort to convert me; to make me a Sanborn wetland groupie. We started our voyage at the end closest to the parking lot. The first thing I pointed out to him was that the tar from the parking lot was plowed into the trail. He continued to express to me that we need to look beyond that.

We managed to stop and take a closer look at the archway formed by the vines creating a pleasurable place to relax. Yet, I still managed to find something wrong with it. For example, in my opinion, the vines had taken over the tree, killing off a part of nature. Jason and I carried on and he only tried to hit me a couple of times for my contrariness.

We continued to walk through the woods and managed to find a peaceful place to relax and hear nature's whispers in the wind. But I was still able to point out that the chain saw in the background wasn't helping me listen to the wind.

As you can tell, it will take a lot of research and argument to convert me into a believer that the Sanborn wetlands are beautiful. Until then, enjoy nature before pollution finds a way to take over.

Resident curmudgeon Jimmy C.will continue to update our readers on his ever-growing love for the wetlands.
