AIR POLLUTION

By: Tom W.

Air pollution is a contamination of liquid or solid waste, or by - products that can endanger human health. Air pollution can most likely be found in major cities. People cause the most air pollution.

There are many chief sources of pollution. One form is transportation, for example automobiles, airplanes, and trains. They give off carbon monoxide while in use. The fumes get into the air and we breathe it in. Another source of pollution is from fuel coming from buildings. The fuel is from heating and cooling homes and buildings. The smoke is let out into the air and then it affects us. Electric power plants can burn coal or oil and release it into the air. A smaller cause of air pollution is from chemical sprays. Chemicals in gas grills also help to contribute to our pollution. This will affect us by us breathing it in.

factory Air pollution can make you very sick. If the air we breathe in is polluted, then it will block passages to the lungs. Our lungs in turn will then get brown and this will make it hard for us to breathe. This is why we should try to do something about this.

We have been trying to control air pollution on all levels of government. In the United States we have air quality standards so we can get the air cleaner.

When I recently went into Boston I noticed a haze over the city, I believe this is from all the buildings. As I was going through all I could smell was fuel.

What can we do about this? I think we need to start watching what we are doing. We could start making the cars more efficient for buildings and other places that use so much energy we could reduce using coal. I know if we all do this together we can do this.

If we don't do anything about this than we will have serious problems.
