Pre-September 1995
1994 : Sanborn High School Science teacher and boat building hobbyist
E. J. Gaudet along with the administration at Sanborn initiated the idea
of bringing an alternative educational model to Sanborn Regional High School.
Spring 1995: SRHS and The University of New Hampshire applied for a
grant with Apple Computer, Inc.
Spring 1995: Apple Partners in Education Grant received. This grant
included a total of $80,000.00 in hardware, software, and training.
Spring 1995: Potential Whaleboat 95' - 96' students are interviewed
and selected.
Summer 1995: E. J. Gaudet, Steve Kossakoski, Dave Moss, Eleanor Abrahms,
and Vic Daly traveled to San Francisco, California to attend a 10 day long
conference and seminar to learn to use the computer technology which we
had received through the Apple grant.
Summer 1995 Dave Taylor, E.J. Gaudet and four students travel to Mystic
Seaport Museum to attend three day boat building course with Barry Thomas
and Chris Rollins.
25, June : First Apple computers arrived.
Fall 1995
03, Sept. : Whaleboat 95' - 96' students arrived in class.
21, Sept. : Beetle Whaleboat work started.
: Students started soliciting local businesses for donations.
21, Sept. : Lofting structure construction started.
28, Sept. : Lofting structure construction finished.
01, Oct. : Steambox construction started.
01, Oct. : Lofting drawing started.
14, Oct. : Steambox construction finished.
16, Oct. : Stem and stern bending started.
01, Nov. : Final Apple computers arrived.
