Ships in the Ocean vs. Women in Today's Society

By Nikkie R.

Women in today's' society play a similar role to ships in the ocean. This is because they are both controlled by a greater outside force that can not be stopped or tamed by anything. We always see battered women on the news at night right along with rape, murder, and stalking of women . Women are vulnerable to greater things like society. Women have always been inferior to men in some minds and for many more years it will be like that. It seems like forever, but it actually was not that long ago that women received the right to vote

We do not have a force great enough to win a respectable place in society where we will be safe from violent crimes against us . Then and only then will society be at ease. There is too much tension in the world today for any woman to be completely secure in the world alone .

This is like the role that ships play in our society: they also are pushed by great forces that they cannot control. These are the forces of nature. On the news we see hurricanes and other natural disasters. We have all seen the classic pictures on the news after a major storm: great massive ships torn apart, some miles inland from their spot in the rough ocean. Something that seems so peaceful takes these massive ships and throws them as if they don't even weigh one pound.

Without warning, things like this sneak up on us, and have no mercy upon us . Where will these things leave us? This is a question that I don't think anyone could answer for us, but if you think hard you might be able to feel how awkward it is that we have no control over man or nature. Something as concrete like a boat can be destroyed so quickly. Having no control is a scary feeling, but it is something that people have to deal with in life until things are more predictable .
